Summer Smoothies

During the Summer, smoothies are my go to drink. I guess I could say a cross between a smoothie and a daiquiri. Since I’m feeling all Summery (well, actually I’m roasting like an absolute chicken in this 30 degree heat) I decided to snap photos of me making my FAVOURITE drink, and share it.

I use Strawberries, Banana, Kiwi and Raspberries (you see sliced apple in the picture but I decided to ditch those so I could eat them with my lunch instead).. and also, Lemonade. I buy the frozen fruits that come in a big bag in all the supermarkets, purely because they last longer. I don’t use a whole pack of fresh strawberries or a whole bunch of bananas in one morning, so these are ideal. Occasionally, it’s nice to add Pineapple too.

Excuse my battered & bruised banana

No instructions needed here, chop them up & throw em in! That’s my smoothie making motto. I blend all the fruit together first, adding a little apple juice just so it isn’t too thick before I add the Lemonade. I have one of those actual smoothie blenders, like a cheap version of a ‘nutri-bullet’ I guess, so it makes less washing-up.
I always use a mason jar for my smoothies. I dont’t know why? I guess I just like taking photos of my drinks & mason jars are the most photogenic way to go! Once I’ve blended everything, and it’s in the jar, I pour in the Lemonade to give it that fizz! Makes it 10x more refreshing honestly, oh and not so thick and chunky.

To top it off, I add little chunks of ice, because honestly it won’t stay cool for very long otherwise

That’s all, that’s my smoothie.. I call it the kiwi-nana-berry daiquiri, yes, I know, creative right?!

With love pals,

  1. That smoothie looks delicious! I’m craving one now ahh! It just sounds perfect for this crazy hot weather! love your pictures too! Xx

  2. The lemonade even helps in preserving the vitamins, it delays oxidation, so it’s really a win-win.
I also love making smoothies, but lately I just prefer chewing the fruit, probably because we are having tons of season fruits available and they are surprisingly sweet this year, so I feel like it’s a “waste” to blend them all 🙂
